NEWS+ – Digital newspaper concept from Bonnier

Swedish publishing house Bonnier has done it again. After creating one of the first concepts for digital magazines with MAG+ (in collaboration with BERG London), they now have released the concept for their take on a daily digital newspaper for the iPad. And it looks really good which means: I’d pay for that.

We started up the project soon after the launch of Mag+, eight months ago. Similarly to the Mag+ development we asked ourselves: What if the newspaper was invented today - what would it look like? And we came up with a product that differs from both the traditional newspaper and the web. We see it as the third product that starts up where the physical newspaper ends. News+ combines an editor’s choice and perspective with the possibilities for conversation the Internet gives. It is as timely in the evening as in the morning and lets readers filter out the din of the web and focus on the bold images and rich storytelling.

While the media industry keeps fighting back and forth about their future and are closely observing the Murdoch/Jobs approach to an iPad newspaper, Bonnier keeps on iterating working concepts. Walking the walk instead of talking the talk.
